James Eugene Shannon, 60, of Frederick, Maryland, and formerly of Jacksonville, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at his residence. He was born September 3, 1945, in Jacksonville, He is survived by one sister, Mary Hepworth of Jacksonville (Illinois); one aunt, Catherine Campbell of Jacksonville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Shannon served in the United States Army as a decoder. He enlisted on August 21, 1963, and served until his retirement in 1982. Following his retirement, he worked in the computer field. He enjoyed building models.
