 PREMIER FUNERAL SERVICES Share a Memory Paul Loren Skowron Paul Loren Skowron Oct 24, 1944 - Feb 5, 2023 Paul Loren Skowron (78) passed away on Sunday Feb. 5th 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 24th 1944 in Mesagmund Walter Skowron and Ellen Marie Sorensen Skowron. He attended elementary, junior and high school in Mesa. In his youth he was an accomplished accordionist. He performed at several functions and many competitions. He performed on the Lew King talent show. Another performer on that show was a young, not yet discovered, Wayne Newton. He loved growing up in the sun in the desert. He grew up loving all sports but particularly baseball. During high school he was on the baseball, football, basketball and track teams, lettering in all four sports. He went out for the track team after an injury while playing football. He became quite the pole vaulter which earned him a scholarship to BYU after graduation from Mesa High School in 1963. He came to Provo to attend BYU that same year. In 1965 he vaulted for a new stadium and new meet record. He was able to tour Europe with the BYU track team in 1965, even participating in a meet at Kinlochleven in Scotland. He had a love of auto racing. He raced stock cars at Turpin Race Track, which was a dirt circle track that eventually became a paved Suntana Raceway. He then helped build and then raced his sprint car, winning many races and awarded many trophies. He married Bette Williams with whom he had a son, Sean. They were later divorced. He had many different jobs before finding his skill and talent in the automobile business. He worked for P E Aston Chevrolet starting in 1973. While working there he met Christine Peay. They were married in 1976. They left to work with an independent used car dealer, Jerry

Paul was an amazing and truly gifted athlete but an even better friend. RIP.
