PRISCILLA VARLEY OBITUARY It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Priscilla Dean (Parker) Varley announces her passing on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the age of 77. Prissy lost her battle to cancer after fighting for only three months. She was surrounded by family and went peacefully at home. Prissy was born in Seagraves, Texas, to Chester and Dorothy (Troby) Parker, then moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she graduated from Mesa High School in 1962. In 1965 Prissy moved to San Diego with her mother and young son (Presley), where they both worked as waitresses at The Red Sails on Shelter Island Dr. A few years after arriving in San Diego, Prissy met and married her Eddie Varley Jr, and had two daughters together Amy and Tamy. Prissy helped raise two stepdaughters, Lisa and Jennifer, and a stepson, Chris. Prissy was a very hard worker throughout her life to provide for her children. She worked at The Red Sails, The UPSES hall, and Sea Shores as a bartender at Admiralty Marine, and finally retired from Bay City Electric Works after 16 years in 2011. Eddie Jr passed away in 1986, leaving Prissy as a widow. At that time, the Varley family embraced her and was always there to help with all the children. In 2010 Prissy married her soulmate, James Varley. Prissy was the very proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. Prissy volunteered her time at the UPSES hall, helping to cook dinners alongside her mother-in-law Deutilde Varley. She was a lifetime member of The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where she was the District Membership Chairman, member of the Portuguese American Social and Civic Club of San Diego, member of SPRSI Council # 98 of Point Loma, and member of Brotherhood of St. Anthony Council # 54 of San Diego Prissy is survived by her husband, James M. Varley; her mother, Dorothy Scott of Escondido; her sister Eddie Poffenbarger (Cliff) of Hawaii, her son Presley Parker (Maureen) of Utah, daughters Amy Madruga (Omar) and Tamy Branstetter of San Diego. Grandchildren Sheena Bingham (Ivan), Tasha Fleming (Andrew), Kirsten Parker (Daniel), Carol Madruga (Raymond), Angel Madruga, Brandon Parker, and James Madruga. Great-grandson Jaxon Chun and two on the way. Prissy was predeceased by three of her siblings, Terri Silva, Melvin Osborne, and Mary Ann Bibleheimer. Rosary and Memorial Mass at St Agnes Church, 1140 Evergreen St, San Diego, CA 92106, at 9:30 a.m. for Rosary and 10:00 a.m. for Mass on Wednesday December 21, 2022.
